The Slide (2018)

A short film in which a woman drives across the West Bank, through a checkpoint into Israel, and then to the beach in Tel Aviv to collect sea water. This film converges the flows of skateboarding history with the politics of water and freedom in the West Bank; themes that sit in dialogue with my familial connection to the Israel-Palestine conflict. I am a British-Palestinian woman, a daughter of the diaspora. Having been born in the UK, with all the security and privilege of that position, and holding a British passport, I am able to slip – often uncomfortably – between the UK, Israel and the West Bank.
